Goals and objectives | Goals | | Main goal of this course is to build capacities of business stakeholders from partner countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo/a (territory under interim UN administration on sustainable development in order to improve their economic and environmental performance. Integration, both sectoral and among stakeholders and poverty reduction remain the overarching objective to be achieved through supporting this initiative. Specific needs of individual countries in regards to sustainable development (including its economic, environmental and social components) as stated above, are the defining parameter of this project. However, this project remains a regional initiative that addresses these needs in a cross-border context by bringing different countries and their (sometimes opposing) development agendas together under the sustainability paradigm. | Objectives | | If you are a mid-level professional coming from your countries’ national administration, private/municipal business representative, or you are a prominent sustainability practitioner you are expected to benefit from this course as it will: - Allow participants build substance in their policy-making on sustainable development and develop and gain an overview of the approaches that can be taken;
- Develop personal commitments to change among the participants.
- Inclusion of the project network of mid-level government officials within SEE into a wider environmental network system
- Contribute towards building platforms for cross-border cooperation for implementation of sustainable development principles at local and national levels
- Enable and promote cooperation of local communities, national government and NGOs with the business sector and promote the concept of sustainable investments and corporate engagement
- Contribute toward the implementation of international and EU sustainable development and relevant environmental policies and legislation
